SOME OF MY FAVOURITE TIPS AND LINKS

Oh the Audacity: Simple and free audio-editing software to get you started.

One of the most common questions I get asked is how to record! What software do I use? How much should I spend? For anyone new to recording podcasts, or wanting to tape themselves to listen back critically to your voice or any simple audio recording I recommend starting with the COMPLETELY FREE program Audacity. Look, it's basic, it's simple, it's like Paint for audio (remember Microsoft Paint? So simple. So good.) it will work on almost any computer or operating system and there's so much free help online. For a very basic interface there is a LOT you can achieve with this lovely little program and you can make things as simple or complex as you like.

Start by downloading it here (or copy https://www.audacityteam.org/download/ in to your browser).

And find everything you need to know about it here at their Audacity Wiki.

Happy recording!
